Passenger and car ferries depart regularly to the two main islands, Isla Mujeres and Cozumel. It’s always a good idea to check departure schedules are they are subject to change due to weather. Speedboats and passenger ferries run between the main dock on Isla Mujeres and Puerto Juárez on the mainland. Car ferries depart from Punta Sam and offer the smoothest ride for sensitive stomachs. To reach either Puerto Juárez or Punta Sam, you can take a bus from downtown (look for Route 8) or a taxi from the Hotel Zone. Water shuttles depart directly from the Hotel Zone.
